Public Opinion on Women's Health and Preventive Care: Key Findings
Public opinion polls from 2017-2019 by KFF Health Tracking Polls reflect support for key provisions in women's health and preventive care. The findings reveal strong public backing for no-cost sharing for childhood preventive care, preventive services, and birth control. There is significant support for prohibiting gender rating and including maternity care in private health plans. Additionally, a considerable percentage opposes exempting employers from birth control coverage for religious or moral reasons. Views vary on who should pay for birth control coverage if not provided by the employer. The majority deem it important for the federal government to fund reproductive health services for lower-income women and support continued payments to Planned Parenthood for non-abortion services under Medicaid.
