Terminal Learning Objective Action: Process a Defective Reenlistment Agreement Condition: Given a team of Senior Career Counselors in a classroom environment, AR 601-280, AR 635-200 and EMT Message 19-04 Standard: Define, Understand and Process a Defective Reenlistment Agreement in accordance with applicable regulations Exceed the Standard
Safety Requirements: None Risk Assessment: Low Environmental Considerations: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Evaluation: There will be no official evaluation after this training however you may be required to understand and process a defective reenlistment agreement within your unit. Exceed the Standard
Define a Defective Reenlistment A defective enlistment/reenlistment agreement exists when the Soldier is eligible for enlistment in the Army but does not meet the prerequisites for the option for which enlisted. Exceed the Standard
Process a Defective Reenlistment Agreement Exceed the Standard
Process a Defective Reenlistment Packet Required Documentation ERB DA Form 4187 endorsed through first COL (O-6) DD Form 4 Series/*DA 1695 Informal memo from the Soldier with the desired results *Memo from responsible Career Counselor explaining mistake Any other relevant supporting documents Exceed the Standard
Soldiers Who May Request Cancellation Eligibility: Reenlistment contracts and extensions that are believed to be Defective/Unfulfilled/Fraudulent/Erroneous will be submitted through the servicing Career Counselor. Soldiers on second, or subsequent enlistments may request cancellation if they - a. Reenlisted for an option that cannot be fulfilled or satisfied through renegotiation b. *Reenlisted/Extended to meet a SRR and was later deleted from assignment by HRC c. Reenlisted/Extended to meet the SRR for Drill Sergeant or Recruiting duty and was later determined unqualified for the assignment provided it was not a result of fraudulent contact on the Soldier s part Exceed the Standard
Restrictions The following restrictions apply to cancellation of contracts: 1. Extensions may not be cancelled once the Soldier begins serving on the extension 2. Soldiers serving on an indefinite reenlistment contract are not authorized to process for cancellation. They must process requests for separation IAW AR 635-200, para 4-4 Exceed the Standard
Cancellation of Defective Reenlistment Agreement - Approved The following actions will be taken once the cancellation is approved: Contractual ETS greater than 3 months Contractual ETS less than 3 months Revert to previous ETS date Establish an ETS date no earlier than 3 months; no later than 6 months from the approval date Exceed the Standard
