WSDAs On-Farm Technical Assistance Air-blast Sprayer Calibration & Configuration This technical assistance occurs on-farm , using the farms own equipment, addressing specific site and equipment issues including: Methods to calculate equipment speed Simple steps to calibrate airblast sprayers Effective methods to measure nozzle output Sprayer configuration based on planting sizes and systems Weather monitoring tools Environmental Hazards (including spraying near sensitive areas and pollinator protection) This technical assistance is provided in English and/or Spanish The goal of this On-farm Technical Assistance (TA) is to provide growers with the tools and information that can result in pesticide drift reduction.
Airblast Sprayer Calibration and Configuration Best Management Practices (BMPs) Designed for people in charge of pesticide applications made with airblast sprayers Training offered in English, Spanish or bilingual Full day course. More in depth training than the on-farm technical assistance visits.

Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Pesticide Handler Training Pesticide Handler Training WSDA s WPS Pesticide Handler Training program is a daylong workshop intended to train agricultural pesticide handlers. This training goes above and beyond WPS training requirements for pesticide handler. Training curriculum is approved by EPA. This training is meant for pesticide handlers so that they learn how to use pesticides in a safe, effective and legal manner and is intended to reduce pesticide exposure incidents among farmworkers and their family members.
WSDA Pesticide program wins national safety training award Posted: 20 Feb 2020 03:15 PM PST Chris McGann Communications Pesticide training program manager Ofelio Borges working with a class. WSDA's Technical Services and Education Program (TSEP) earned a national innovation award and accolades as one of the most robust pesticide safety training programs in the nation at The Pesticide Stewardship Alliance (TPSA) annual conference in San Antonio, Texas this week. TPSA is a national consortium of federal, state and local governmental agencies; educational and research institutions; and other groups promoting pesticide stewardship through education, training, and outreach. WSDA Director Derek Sandison said farm worker training and protection is a top priority for the agency. "Here in Washington, we put an emphasis on training and education programs that ensure pesticides are used properly. We set the standard for the rest of the country and that's something we're very proud of," Sandison said.
