Purpose of Funds TONY THURMOND State Superintendent of Public Instruction 1. Assist SFAs in maintaining children s access to nutritious meals 2. Respond financially to the challenges and enhance efforts to strengthen local supply chains
Eligible SFAs SFAs that currently operate the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), or the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) under Child Nutrition Response #85 TONY THURMOND State Superintendent of Public Instruction All sponsor types are eligible SFAs must have experienced supply chain issues and related financial challenges
Funding Overview (1) Can only use funds to purchase unprocessed or minimally processed, domestic food products TONY THURMOND State Superintendent of Public Instruction Funds are voluntary; you can accept or opt out No expenditure deadline
Funding Overview (2) California received $115 million TONY THURMOND State Superintendent of Public Instruction Allocations based on a predetermined formula: Base payment of $5,000 Proportional amount based on each SFA s share of statewide student enrollment Enrollment data from October 2021 will be used
Calculation Example Total funds: $115,356,821 TONY THURMOND State Superintendent of Public Instruction SFA Payments = base payment ($5k) + enrollment-based payment Enrollment-based payment: SFA share of statewide enrollment
