  1. BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING JUNE SERMON SERIES

  2. Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT), But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

  3. If you desire to be spiritually deep, then become deeply rooted in God through His Word, the Bible.

  4. EIGHT PRACTICAL WAYS TO OVERCOME ANXIETY Lesson Four

  5. 1. READ THE BIBLE

  6. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV), Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.

  7. 2. PRAY AND PETITION

  8. Philippians 4:6, Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

  9. Worry causes stress. Prayer causes peace. Worry less, pray more.

  10. 3. BE REALISTIC

  11. To be realistic is to have a good grip on the reality of a situation and understand what can and cannot be done.

  12. II Corinthians 12:8-9 (NLT), Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time He said, My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

  13. The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook. William James

  14. Besides the noble art of getting things done is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of Nonessentials Lin Yutang

  15. Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

  16. 4. BE FLEXIBLE

  17. Change is unavoidable; we have got to be resilient, adaptable, adjustable.

  18. Philippians 4:11-12 (NKJV), Not that I speak regarding need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

  19. Under stress, if we cannot bend, we will surely break.

  20. Wisdom can tell us when to change and when to hold our ground.

  21. 5. FOCUS ON THE GOOD CARES, MINIMIZE THE UNNECESSARY ONES.

  22. Philippians 2:19-22 (NKJV), But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel.

  23. Matthew 13:22 (NKJV), Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

  24. Often, we tend to become distracted by many relatively unimportant cares, and do not care enough about the things we ought to.

  25. 6. LEARN TO LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME

  26. Proper use of today diminishes anxiety about tomorrow.

  27. Matthew 6:34 (NKJV), Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

  28. Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its worries and sorrows; it only empties today of its strengths.

  29. Worry is the interest paid on trouble before it falls due.

  30. 7. STAY BUSY

  31. Philippians 2:12-13 (NIV), Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

  32. Idleness opens various doors of opportunity for the devil to enter. "An idle mind is the devil's playground"

  33. 1 Timothy 5:13 (NET),And besides that, going around from house to house they learn to be lazy, and they are not only lazy, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things they should not.

  34. Blessed is the person who is too busy to worry in the daytime, and too sleepy to worry at night.

  35. Our great business in life is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand.

  36. 8. LEARN CONTENTMENT

  37. Anxiety often comes from having too much, rather than too little.

  38. Ecclesiastes 5:12, The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; But the abundance of the rich will not permit him to sleep.

  39. Our wealth depends not so much on what we have, as what we can do without.

  40. Focus on putting your trust in God Psalm 9:10 (KJV), And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.

  41. Read the Bible, Pray, Be Realistic, Be Flexible, Focus on the good cares, minimize the unnecessary ones, Learn to live one day at a time, Stay Busy, and Learn Contentment.
