What is required this summer? Camps Programs Self-assess and attest that camp meets the EEC MRHS (and general business safety standards). Inspected and Licensed by LBOH for compliance with 105 CMR 430 only LBOH and state can ask to see attestation and review practices in response to a complaint. Healthcare Consultant (HCC) 430.159 - Health Care Staff to be Provided All camps must have a Health Care Consultant (HCC) MA Physician, NP, or PA with documented pediatric experience HCC must sign off on all of the camp s health care policies Camps must provide list to HCC of all Health Care Supervisors (HCS) HCC must train all HCS who are not licensed Training & test of competency for unlicensed HCSs per 430.160: See available guidance documents for DPH standards on training and test of competency: https://www.mass.gov/lists/recreational-camps-for-children- community-sanitation 7 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph
Healthcare Supervisor (HCS) Present at licensed camps at all times and meets the following requirements: 18 years of age or older; Responsible for day to day operation of camp s health program; and o May have other non-health related duties (counselor, director, etc.) Must be Physician, PA, CNP, RN, LPN OR Person specially trained in First Aid and CPR o All unlicensed designated HCS must receive additional trainings from the HCC 8 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph

COVID19 At Camp What to do in the event a Camper or Staff presents with COVID19 symptoms. Immediately isolate individual from other campers/staff If possible, provided individual a mask to wear until they can leave facility Contact parents immediately. Have individual picked up as soon as possible. What to do in the event a Camper or Staff tests positive for COVID19. Notify: LBOH, funding/licensing entity (if applicable), and staff and families of exposure while maintaining confidentiality. May not return until they meet criteria for discontinuing isolation and consulted with a healthcare provider. Determine if individual was at camp while symptomatic or 2 days prior. Working with LBOH or MDPH to identify close contacts. Close off all areas visited by ill person, increase ventilation to area Wait 24 hours, or as long as possible to clean and disinfect area Pay close attention to high touch surface areas 12
Communicable Disease Reporting 430 Requirements Day Camps MRHS Camp Operator Reporting (430.157): Immediately report each case of communicable disease to LBOH and DPH Immediately report each case of suspected food poisoning or usual prevalence of illness Reporting: Immediately report positive cases to LBOH Parents must report to designated staff person any close household contacts or positive cases of COVID19 Exclusion Policy (430.153): Protecting all susceptible children if communicable disease present at camp Contact Tracing: Monitor who staff and children come into contact with throughout each day Follow the direction of the Local Board of Health (LBOH) or MDPH if identified as a close contact 13 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph

Cleaning and Storage of Materials 430 Requirements Day Camps MRHS 430.214 Storage of Hazardous Materials Cleaning/Disinfecting Chemicals: Accessible to staff in each area of camp EPA registered disinfectants for use against COVID-19 Bleach/water solutions freshly mixed every 24 hours At least 70% isopropyl alcohol cleaning solution Follow instructions and air dry completely Gloves specific to cleaner and hand hygiene Disinfectants or other hazardous chemicals: Plainly marked Stored in locked closet or compartment Separate from food Not accessible to campers Hand Sanitizer: Securely stored Parental permission Supervise use 15 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph
Cleaning at Camp Clean and disinfect shared equipment at the end of each activity o Personal equipment worn by a player (e.g. gloves, helmet, masks, skates, footwear, or pads) may not be shared o Campers must have dedicated PFD, cleaned in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard guidance Intensify cleaning paying extra attention to frequently touched objects and surfaces o Indoor and outdoor surfaces Close off area visited by ill person, wait 24 hours or as long as possible to clean/disinfect area o Increase ventilation to area Train staff on proper chemical use and encourage glove use while cleaning and disinfecting 16 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph
Spatial Layout 430 Requirements Day Camps MRHS 430.457 Shelters at Day Camp: Shelter sufficiently large enough to house and provide for on-going camp activities Emergency Shelter: Must maintain 6 ft of distance (may be helpful to calculate using 30 ft2 of space per person ) May utilize pavilion/tents to meet requirements Certificate of Inspection Roof weather/water tight If unable to provide: Cancel/modify camp hours to avoid inclement weather Structural and interior maintenance Activities at camp: Activities outside whenever possible Prepare materials and equipment to minimize sharing and properly distance 17 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph
Social Distancing and Face Coverings Face Coverings/Masks: Staff: Masks/face coverings are always required when you can t socially distance Social Distancing: 6 feet of distance in and between groups Rearrange rooms/areas to promote distancing Campers: Encouraged to wear when can t maintain 6 feet of distance Ages 2-5 also encouraged to wear, but at the discretion of the camper s parent Close communal spaces or stagger use Clean and disinfect between uses Separate campers belongings so they do not touch Exceptions for wearing masks: Under 2 years of age Medical condition/behavioral health diagnosis Rely on lip-reading Stagger pick-up and drop off times 18

Transportation 430 Requirements Day Camps MRHS When transporting campers: Campers under 7 not transported longer than 1 hour non-stop (430.251) When transporting campers: Screening of children prior to boarding Maximize space between riders Masks must be worn, if appropriate Windows open, if able Develop cleaning schedule Bus Drivers and Monitors: At Least 18 years old with 2+ years experience (430.252) Current license for vehicle (430.252) First Aid trained (if applicable) (430.252) Must have 1 additional staff member as monitor (430.251) Drivers and Monitors: Properly screened, cannot work when sick Must wear mask Try to maintain 6ft of distance from driver Adequate cleaning and hand hygiene supplies 20 Massachusetts Department of Public Health mass.gov/dph
