My Sight, My Right - Ensuring Quality Eye Health for Children
Providing access to free, quality eye care for over 40,000 children aged 5-14, the My Sight, My Right initiative aims to combat avoidable visual impairment. By raising awareness, integrating child eye health into health and education policies, and offering volunteer clinics and projects in government hospitals across various regions, the program strives to reduce visual impairments globally. Through activities like free eye screenings and data collection, this project promotes early intervention and inclusive eye health for children.

My Sight, My Right Accessible Quality Vision and Eye Health- the right of every child
My Sight, My Right Objectives Providing over 40,000 children between the ages of 5-14years with easy access to free, quality eye care services. Contributing towards realizing the World Health Organization (WHO) s Universal Eye Health Initiative: A Global Action Plan 2014-2019 which aims to reduce the global prevalence of avoidable visual impairment by 25 per cent by 2019. Creating awareness on the need for early intervention on causes of visual impairment among children Campaigning for inclusive eye health, and Encouraging the integration of child eye health in the policies and programmes of ministries of Health and Education
Figures & Records About 19 million of the world s children visually are impaired, 12 million (63%) of these due to refractive errors, 1.4 million irreversibly blind, More than 80% of the causes of visual impairment (blindness inclusive) are avoidable (preventable and/or treatable) with simple and cost-effective interventions! Nigeria national eye survey of blindness & VI 0.6% prevalence of blindness among children

Activities for NOA @ 50 CSR Project Kick off in Every Participating State Chapter with FREE eye screening for children 5-14years Referral of children from this screening to participating clinics Participating clinics kick off last Friday of March 2018 Thereafter every last Friday of the month for the next 9months (March November 2018) Submission of data collected on or before 10thof the month
My Sight, My Right What to Expect Last Friday of the Month starting from March 2018 Free consultation and eye examination 10am to 4pm to children (5 -14years) Uniform test across participating clinics and Hospitals Uniform record sheet and referral forms
Clinical Exams Preliminaries: Brief History including answer to short questionnaire Eye Exam: Visual acuity Plus lens acceptance External examination Ophthalmoscopy Amplitude of accommodation NPC Stereoacuity test Cover test at far and near Refraction for refractive cases Intraocular pressure test (where necessary) Referral where necessary (record of referral should be documented)
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING CLINICS AND HOSPITALS They will be contributing their quota towards ameliorating vision impairment among children through the CSR project They will be listed in a publication in any of the national newspapers during the period They will be listed in the national brochure for the NOA at 50 project as contributing to this golden moment They will be listed in every available news medium both local and national
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING CLINICS AND HOSPITALS They will be listed on NOA and Conference website Award to clinics that presents the best pictures and videos of their activities from the four zones. It will be in the official records of the association which will ever be remembered by future generation of optometrists. It will attract businesses for the clinics
