Our USA Team All of our coaches are USA coaching certified We are our own USA club under the name of Metro Marlins (MET). Coach Angel will primarily be managing the USA program and will be providing extra practice time, organizing meet entries and tracking progress for our USA swimmers.
A team is only as good as the parents that stand behind it! Even the best coaching staff cannot singlehandedly manage a successful team. Swimming is a team sport, and we need the support of the families that make up the team in order to grow and excel!
Parent Volunteer Committee There will be a core committee of parent volunteers who will work with coaches to head volunteer efforts on the team and serve as liaisons to the swimmers and parents of the Marlins. They will work to promote team unity and help the team to function as a self-sufficient unit. This group of parents will help to organize meet and event volunteers. This will allow the coaches the ability to focus on the swimmers and their success in the pool.
Equipment & Apparel This parent will work with the head coach and the Metro Swim Shop representative to communicate apparel ordering information to the team. Most of the responsibilities of this parent representative will exist in the beginning of the season Responsibilities will include distributing order forms, communicating ordering info via email and distributing apparel at practice once it has arrived
Meet Concessions This parent representative will be responsible for organizing meet concessions (home meetsonly) Assign families to bring a particular item to each meet. They will also keep note of non- perishable items that are left over from each meet to be sold at future meets. Assign other parent volunteers to work the concession stand at the actual meets; the coordinator will be responsible for set up, pricing and clean up however they will not be required to work each concession stand if an appropriate number of volunteers are assigned.
Timing Coordinator This parent will have the responsibility of assigning and organizing parent volunteers for each meet. The meet coordinator will be known by all parents. Parent volunteers will check in with meet coordinator at each meet and they will be responsible for ensuring that all volunteers understand their jobs. All questions will go through the meet coordinator allowing the coaches the freedom to coach. If assigned volunteers do not show up to their shift, it is the meet coordinator s responsibility to solicit volunteers the day of to take their place.
Officials Coordinator The officials coordinator will be responsible for organizing trained officials for our meets He/She will also have the responsibility of coordinating volunteers to undergo the officials training course at the beginning of theseason The officials coordinator will ensure that all of our officials are aware of current swimming regulations
Events Committee The social committee will consist of 3-5 parents who commit to planning and executing team social functions throughout the season The committee will work closely with the coaches to plan team building events, activities and trips to promote team unity and a love of swimming. Preferably, this committee will consist of a wide variety of parents, with children from varying practice and age groups. This committee will also play a large role in the organization of the end of the season banquet in March
Volunteer Hours Each family will be required to provide 5 volunteer hours throughout the course of the season These hours may not be exactly 5 hours 1.5 hours of timing may equal 1 hour Providing baked good may equal 0.5 hours Volunteer sign up and hour tracking will be through our Team Unify website
Communication Team communication will be primarily through our Team Unify site (www.metromarlins.org), here you will find all relevant and updated information Monthly emails with important highlights will be sent out by Coach Angel To speak with a coach, please arrange a time to meet that is outside of practice time, all coaches emails can be found on the website
