  1. 12C MEN OF MAGIC VOCABULARY: CONNECTING WORDS: FIRST, NEXT, THEN, ETC. READING: A MAGAZINE ARTICLE REVIEW: USED TO, PAST VERB FORMS

  2. Please, open your books, p96. Look at the photo in exercise 1. Who is the man? Why is he fanous? Please, try to do exercise 2. Man of magic Are these sentences true or false? Houdini was his real name. He was born in the USA. Check your answers, p157,

  3. Please, read about David Blaine. Answer the following questions: When did David Blaine start doing magic? Which famous people is he friends with? David Blaine The new Houdini When did he become famous? Why did he have to spend two weeks in hospital? How did he get off the pillar? What did he eat when he was in the glass box? What connection does he have with Houdini?

  4. Look at the words in bold in the article. Those words show the order of events. We use while and when to connect things that are happening at the same time. We use first, next, then, after, after that and finally to show the order of events. TIPS! We usually use while with continuous verb forms: CONNECTING WORDS While he was studying to be an actor, he used to do magic tricks. After can be followed by subject + verb or a noun: He became famous after he made a TV show. They left after the breakfast. After that is usually follwed by subject + verb: Atfer that he lived without food for 44 days.
