1 Michelle the Myna Bird Meets the Other Birds
2 I am the Pitta Bird. My wings are as blue as the sky. I feed my babies lots of worms, and I am very shy.
3 I am the Kingfisher. My feathers are as beautiful as any king s clothes. When my babies make a wish, they wish that I will feed them fish.
4 I am the Owl. I m not as colorful as the other birds, but I stay awake at night. When they re asleep I like to fly and give them all a fright.
5 I am the Hornbill. My bill is big and my wings are wide. When I m in the air I like to glide. I m such a big bird, I cannot hide.
6 I am the Crow. I m as black as the night. I m the smartest bird. Sitting up in my tree, I can count as high as three.
7 I am the Trogon, bright, bright red. A hole in a tree is where I make my bed.
8 I am the Hoopoe. I think that I m the best, because the feathers on my head make a crazy crest.
9 I am the Woodpecker. My lovely crest is red. I peck for insects that I will eat in wood that s old and dead.
10 I am the Broadbill. Have you ever seen a bird so green? I look like a leaf. It s beyond belief.
11 I am the Emerald Dove. I m related to the pigeons that live in every town. Beautiful birds should make you smile, and never make you frown.
12 We are the Parakeets. We are little parrots. We use our beaks to crack nuts and seeds and we never do eat carrots.
I am the Magpie. 13 I am the Magpie. As green as can be, with bright little eye, when we meet in the forest, I say, Hi. And now the story comes to an end, and with my little beak I say, Good-Bye.
