Maine DHHS Transportation Programs Overview
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) oversees various transportation programs aimed at providing non-emergency transportation services to low-income, child welfare-eligible, and Section 17-eligible individuals. These programs are managed through regional brokerage systems, with brokers coordinating transportation arrangements with approved providers. MaineCare Non-Emergency Transportation (NET) is a key service managed through a brokerage system, ensuring members access MaineCare-funded services. Brokers determine transportation methods, including reimbursement, public transportation, taxis, and specialized transport. NET has specific limitations and exclusions to ensure appropriate service delivery.
