Concept of literature in the 16th century Rhetoric in the Renaissance sense means the art of ornamentation There are 3 major styles in Renaissance art. 1. High Style: It was the style that was exalted above ordinary speech. Language is more formal than ordinary language. It s the style of epic and romance 2. The Middle Style (Mean): The language is neither too formal nor too colloquial. It s the style of sonnet 3. The Low Style: The language is colloquial.
