Is ACT an existential therapy?
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Existential Therapy share a common stance of non-pathologizing acceptance and non-hierarchical freedom. Therapists in both approaches work with clients to acknowledge, accept, and act on their true values, encouraging awareness of existence and interconnected aspects of being. The aim is to help clients live in alignment with their values by fostering freedom, responsibility, and learning from negative feelings.
