  3. STOP LOOK CARE Your role as manager/senior staff Actively promote the use of the Stop Look Care booklet and approach by the staff in the home in their everyday work. Actively embed the use of the Stop Look Care Booklet and approach in everyday working practices in the home e.g. at handovers. Encourage staff to make optimum use of the Stop Look Care principles to meet the needs of the client / person they care for. Actively embed the use Stop Look Care in induction training and/or alongside Care Certificate training for new staff, by having an open and supportive learning environment that supports skill and confidence development. Raise client and family/carer awareness of Stop Look Care and its use in the home. Provide agreed data to the Stop Look Care project team to demonstrate the impact of the project.

Staff have increased confidence when working autonomously or in a care setting to manage care. Provides a locally recognised framework to guide and evidence learning Supports CQC preparedness and achievement Supports the development and management of workforce with the potential for a positive affect recruitment and retention Acts as a mark of quality for the setting

STOP LOOK CARE How Stop Look Care can support CQC KLOES Safe KLOE - Prompt and confident identification of deterioration, manage risk, decrease risk of infections, support safer care Effective KLOE Assessing needs, staff skills & knowledge Caring KLOE Staff deliver care in a caring, compassionate way, use Stop Look Care language to advocate on behalf of client Responsive KLOE Care is responsive to clients needs, managing risks to health Well Led KLOE - Stop Look Care can act a mark of quality for your home, provides evidence improving the quality of care your home provides

  7. STOP LOOK CARE Evaluation and data collection To help us demonstrate the impact of using Stop Look Care in care homes we will be completing an evaluation of the impact of its use. We will working with Kent Surrey & Sussex Academic Health Science Network to complete this This includes Gaining insight into staff confidence levels pre and post training Impact of training on patient care via data collection template We will also be looking at system data on each home and seeing if any changes occur e.g. Non elective admissions and A&E attendances We will need some willing participants to be interviewed on the impact of the training as part of the project evaluation to help us understand the real experience of using Stop Look Care

STOP LOOK CARE Data Collection Chart Why collect this data: To show impact of use of Stop Look Care on patient care Reinforces use of Stop Look Care in the home Can be used to support KLOEs in a CQC inspection When to start collecting data: As soon possible post the training today for a 6 week period following the training How to collect the data: Complete the chart on a weekly basis for the past 7 days Collect data on calls to GPs/Ambulances/UTIs/Falls/Respiratory conditions Return your completed sheet to: sesc.stoplookcare@nhs.net
