2. Imagine School at Imagine School at Broward Broward School s Vision Statement The School s vision is to empower students to grow and evolve into global thinkers and lifelong learners. Each child is recognized as a unique individual and is encouraged to reach his/her own true potential. Through collaborative efforts, parents, students, and staff will foster a positive, warm, loving environment in which students develop their whole selves.

3. MS Facts MS Facts Imagine School at Broward opened in 2008. In 2010 we opened the middle school. Wait list of over 500 students. A rated school for the past eight years. 100% passing rate on Geometry and Algebra 96% passing rate on Civics EOC Appropriate school size 250 students Average class size of 22 students 12 classes

4. Culture and Climate Culture and Climate Teaming. Teachers in the same grade level and subject area meet weekly to develop lesson plans, analyze data, and discuss student progress. Character Development. Imagine teachers and staff teach, model and integrate virtues into every aspect of the school curriculum and culture. Students learn to set academic and personal goals. They grow in their ability to successfully meet their goals as they practice integrity and diligence, while taking responsibility for their studies. Our focus on character helps students attain the virtuous habits needed to live fruitful, honorable lives. Imagine That! Showcase. Integrated into the curriculum are service learning and STEAM projects. For the character development of civic responsibility, students engage in service learning projects that help those in the community. STEAM projects are integrated in the curriculum that applies knowledge of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in order to create technologies and solutions for real-world problems, using an engineering design approach.

5. 2019-2020 Schedule 8:30 9:10 Study hall available for students (monthly rate) 9:10 Doors open back car line for middle school students 9:15 10:11- First Period with homeroom teacher (core class) 10:15-11:11- Second Period (core class) 11:15-12:11 Third Period (core class) 12:15-1:45- Fourth Period & lunch(core class) 12:45-1:15- Sixth/Seventh Grade lunch 1:15-1:45- Seventh/Eighth Grade lunch 1:45-2:15 Shine Time 2:15-2:56- First Elective 3:00-3:45- Second Elective ** This is subject to change based on educational needs for students. **

6. Morning Procedures Middle school students with elementary school siblings may report to the Great Room no earlier than 8:10 am for study hall. There is a monthly charge for the service. All other students must be dropped off in the BACK of the school NO EARLIER than 8:55 am. Classes start promptly at 9:15 for all Middle School Students.

7. Dismissal Procedures The school day ends at 3:45 pm. Students must be picked up by 4:00 pm or they will be taken to after care and a charge will apply. If your child has a sibling in elementary school, they are to pickup their sibling in the holding room and be at car line by 3:45 pm. Any walker or biker must have a completed walker/biker registration form they will not be released from school grounds if not completed. If your child goes to after school care, you must pick up your child in the front of the school by 6:00 pm.

8. 6th Grade Classroom Rules & Policies Each middle school grade class follows the same rules, and has the same behavioral expectations and consequences as outlined in the code of conduct. Homework policy 60 minutes of total homework per night, Monday through Thursday. Cellphones and smart watches are to be off and in backpacks at ALL times

9. Backpacks Welcome to middle school where your backpacks stay with you AT ALL TIMES. No ROLLING BACKPACKs Except at lunch when backpacks are left in the classroom. Parents please be aware that several textbooks may be kept at home. Each child will be given online access to some of their textbooks.

13. 21st Century Learning All 6th grade classrooms are equipped with computers, a projector and a document camera. Some teachers use Smartboards. The Middle School currently is using six laptop carts, a netbook cart, and two iPad carts. Parents and students must sign and return a Policy for Use of Technology in School form before students will be allowed to use Middle School technology. Cell phones and Smart Watches are to be turned off and stored in backpack all day except when teacher gives permission to use the cell phone for educational purposes. Please reinforce this policy with your child. Parents please monitor your children s social media.

14. Technology Upgrades 18 new laptop carts with 25 chrome books in each 450 more laptops Grades 3 to 8 will have one computer per student. 1 new laptop cart with 25 touch screen chrome books 46 document cameras for teachers with microphones and capability to upload videos to class dojo etc (will help parents and students with HW or a lesson) HD wall mounted TVs for each classroom Interactive TV s will be on carts and used in classrooms as needed Media Center Upgrade -30 all in one computers with touch screen Art Class Upgrade - 1 laptop cart with 24 touch screen laptops with discrete graphics for for graphic design and art classes Music Room Upgrade -New Mac Book and special software for the music class Steam and Robotics in the process of purchasing Robotics/Coding/Steam equipment for a MS elective class, enrichment class and MS after school club for this coming year including 3D printer Staff - 55 new touch screen laptops for teachers and staff Go Guardian software (Allows teachers to monitor student computer use from teacher laptop)

15. Middle School Uniform Khaki or navy blue bottoms (shorts, slacks, or skirts) must be uniform quality. Shirts must be purchased from our uniform supplier. Middle school shirt colors are: royal blue, grey, red, and teal. Dry Fit shirts will be available in certain colors Plan for cold weather. Navy blue sweaters, hoodies, or jackets with no logos. Leggings are not part of the school uniform and not permitted when not in appropriate electives.

16. PE Uniforms PE uniforms will be required for the following classes: PE Yoga Healthy Living Team Sports *PE uniforms are sold through the front office and the cost is $15/shirt and $15/shorts each.* Girls may wear navy blue leggings under the PE shorts. Specifics will be discussed in the first week of class. Students without proper attire will be sent to the office to call home for their uniforms to be brought to school. Points may be deducted from students for not wearing uniform.

17. JIF DAY Friday J.I.F. Club Blue/Navy Blue Jeans or Fitness Navy Bottoms with Imagine Spirit Shirt Friday J.I.F. Club is an annual fundraiser that raises money for the school. Students who paid to participate in this club: Students are allowed to wear BLUE/NAVY jeans or NAVY athletic shorts/pants in place of uniform bottoms every Friday. NO YOGA PANTS, LEGGINGS, JEGGINGS, TIGHTS, AND HOLES. All students are still required to wear either their Imagine Uniform short or their Imagine Spirit Shirt on these days. All members of the J.I.F. Casual Friday Club in which these students are allowed to dress down on the last Friday of the month. All students must adhere to all rules and regulations set forth in the Dress Code section of the Broward County Student Code of Conduct for dress down days.

18. Pinnacle Pinnacle is the gradebook system used in Middle School and the County. Parents & students have access to Pinnacle using their student number and date of birth. Please keep track of your child s test, homework and classwork grades. Ensure that your email is linked to your child s pinnacle to receive teacher messages.

19. School Supplies School supply packages for middle school contain basic items that will be used through out the school year. Students will need 2 sets of earbuds (one in backpack and one left in classroom for testing). Students will need a specific model calculator (TI-30XA). Each teacher will be providing a syllabus to their classes with additional items required during the first week of school.

20. Middle School Athletics participate must return the Athletic Program Packet and physical to the athletic director prior to tryouts. Imagine School at Broward offers a variety of team sports. Any student wishing to Requirements to participate: Must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA on a weighted 4.0 scale prior to the semester in which the student wishes to participate. This GPA must include all courses.
