IGCSE History and Geography 3eme and 2nd Two-Year Program 2021 - 2022

IGCSE: Two years to prepare two exams Over the two years in 3eme and 2ndthe students prepare the IGCSE exams which take place in May of their second year in the program. The classes are divided into two subjects: Language and Literature Students have 6 sessions a week in 3eme and 6 sessions a week in 2nd with revision sessions set up throughout the year. IGCSE 0500 First Language Exam The aims of this syllabus are to enable students to: - read a wide range of texts, fluently and with good understanding - read critically - write accurately and effectively - develop skills of evaluation, analysis, use and inference - listen to, understand, and use spoken language effectively - acquire and apply a wide vocabulary, grammatical terminology, and linguistic conventions.

IGCSE 0500 First Language Exam Paper 1: 2 hour Reading Exam, 50% of overall grade 80 marks Structured and extended writing questions Questions will be based on three reading texts Paper 2: 2 hour Directed Writing and Composition Exam, 50% of overall grade 80 marks Extended writing question and a composition task

IGCSE 0475 Literature (English) The aims are to develop learners who: enjoy the experience of reading literature understand and respond to literary texts in different forms and from different periods and cultures communicate an informed personal response appreciate different ways in which writers achieve their effects experience literature s contribution to aesthetic, imaginative and intellectual growth explore the contribution of literature to an understanding of areas of human concern

IGCSE 0475 Literature Exam Paper 1: 1 hour 30 minutes, Poetry and Prose 50% of total grade Two questions on two texts: one Poetry and one Prose Paper 3: 45 min, Drama 25% of total grade One question Coursework Portfolio Two sample papers done by students over the two year program, one on a seen and one on an unseen text.
