1. Warnings: (Dont say) The tongue is dangerous (v 5-8) A fire unrighteous staining evil poison Control our tongues we control everything The last stronghold of evil is the tongue
1. Warnings: (Dont say) How we go wrong (Prov 26:17-28) Meddling (triangulation, messages, interpreting) Saying I m only joking. (politicians caught out) Whisperer (gossip) delicious morsels Fervent lips with evil heart (forceful, intimidate) Words to disguise and deceive gracious Lying Flattering (saying what people want to hear)
1. Warnings: (Dont say) Think of throw away lines: Just follow your heart It ll all work out God just wants you to be happy Are they true? Iain Refuse to speak, can t complain not heard
2. Encouragement: (Do say) Paul tells us how to speak: Graciously giving answers (Col 4:6) Not corrupting building up (Eph 4:29) No filthiness, foolishness, crude joking (Eph 5:4)

Living It To Speak or Not to Speak Peter keep tongue from evil deceit (1 Pe 3:10) Much in Scripture recommends hold tongue Also encouraged to be bold (Phil 1:14) Declare the Gospel (1 Thess 2:2) Correct each other because of grace (Ro 15:15) Teach & Admonish (Col 3:16)
