  1. Cadet Teaching! How to prepare for the semester

  2. Filling Out Your Application for Cadet Teaching

  3. First, on your application you will add your name, First The grade level you will be when you cadet teach, And your current GPA. Keep in mind you must have at least a 3.0 GPA to Cadet Teach.

  4. You will answer an essay question regarding what you hope to learn through being a Cadet Teacher, Second: You will have talked to the teacher you want to teach for and have their approval, Then write down this information in the application.

  5. You must create a syllabus with your Cadet Teaching advisor. Here you must complete weekly goals and objectives, Prepare and teach at least 1 small group or whole-group activity. Third You must also create a ruberic with your advisor. You must have the syllabus and rubric attached to this proposal at time of turn in. Must also turn in a time log with advisor s evaluation for final grade.

  6. Fourth This section of the application describes specifics about the final public exhibition. Read this carefully and start putting together your assessment committee early in the project.

  7. Students must complete a minimum of 90 hours in order to obtain credit for cadet teaching. Fifth Fill out when you will be in your supervisor s classroom. You will earn 1 credit each semester.

  8. Sign your name, Sixth Get a parents signature, And your advising teachers signature. Turn this form back in to the Counseling Center, here, a committee will determine your eligibility to Cadet Teach.

  9. This is what the time sheet you turn in to your supervising teacher at the end of the semester will look like! Seventh Remember to log your 90 hours and turn your hours log and journal in to your supervising teacher at the end of the semester.

  10. What are your expectations during the semester

  11. Work with your supervising teacher to plan a topic and find resources to help you create a lesson plan. Two Lessons Don t leave these lessons till the end of the semester. This semester you will create a lesson plan and teach Ask your teacher to take pictures while you are teaching (you can include these in your final presentation). *a small-group lesson *and a full-class lesson

  12. Should include: Your Name Topic Indiana State Standards Lesson Plan Format Date to be Taught Materials Objective Lesson Plan Content and Activities Questions Conclusion/Evaluation

  13. Remember to read at least one book during the semester on the topic of teaching. Professional Literature Review At the end of the semester turn in a literature review to your supervising teacher.

  14. Make sure to keep a journal (paper or electronic) of what you are experiencing and learning during Cadet Teaching. This will be helpful to look back at when you are creating your Final Presentation. Journal Turn in your journal to your Supervising Teacher at the end of the semester.

  15. Turn in your Hours Log to your Supervisor at the end of the semester. It should reflect 90 hours spent cadet teaching this semester. Hours Log

  16. Your Final Presentation Remember, you need to invite a school counselor, administrator, teacher, and two community members to your final presentation Your final presentation should be 15-30 minutes long and show an overview of all that you learned and experienced during the semester, and how this experience has shaped your future plans. Have your supervising teacher take pictures of you interacting with students throughout the semester. Your final presentation has to be completed before Finals week.

  17. Make sure you are engaged with the students sit next to them and talk with them. (you should not be on your cell phone during cadet teaching) Attitude and Involvement Ask your teacher each day what activities they have for you to do. If you finish everything they have prepared, sit down with students and help them with their activities.
