The Greater Manchester LPC is actively involved in the Dementia Framework and Dementia Action Alliance initiatives to improve the lives of people with dementia. They are establishing Local Dementia Action Alliances, providing training for pharmacy staff, and collaborating with strategic partners to develop referral pathways and care models. Dementia Action Alliance Dementia Action Alliance What is a Local Dementia Action Alliance? A Local Dementia Action Alliance brings together regional and local members to improve the lives of people with dementia in their area. They are seen as the local vehicle to develop dementia friendly communities. A Local Alliance can be established at any level, be it a village, city, county or even a region. They can overlap geographically and member organisations are encouraged to participate in more than one. Find out about Local Alliances in your area by searching below or selecting a region
Greater Manchester LPC Greater Manchester LPC Greater Manchester LPC is currently in the process of joining the DAA across GM. This includes the Wigan locality. The LPC have submitted a number of pledges that mirror those already in place in the Bolton locality, so there is a shared commitment to the Dementia agenda across GM. GMLPC have now began the process to role out the Community Pharmacy Dementia Framework as part of the wider Healthy Living Pharmacy roll out

Dementia Action Alliance Dementia Action Alliance Pledge 1 Pledge 1 Training for pharmacy staff to improve understanding of Dementia (Dementia Friends) GM LPC will arrange Dementia Friends training for pharmacy staff and encourage all to attend. (To support this work we will ensure pharmacies have up to date local and national signposting information in the pharmacy and know where to obtain resources).
Dementia Action Alliance Dementia Action Alliance Pledge 2 Pledge 2 Work with Strategic Partners The LPC will work with strategic partners at the Local Authority, NHSE and the CCG to assist in the development of referral pathways We will ensure that pharmacy is considered when models of care and care pathway are developed
Dementia Action Alliance Dementia Action Alliance Pledge 3 Pledge 3 Dementia Friendly Pharmacy Framework With support from the LPN we will launch the Dementia Friendly Pharmacy Framework which has been developed in Greater Manchester. We will support pharmacies to deliver this framework over a period of 6-12 months with the aim of have 70% of pharmacies meeting the requirements by March 2018
Dementia Friendly Pharmacy Dementia Friendly Pharmacy Framework Framework Ideally want all pharmacies to be involved Mandatory for those pharmacies that are part of the HLP programme in Greater Manchester (Other pharmacies may participate if they wish) Recording of progress via a PharmOutcomes assessment framework This will allow Commissioners to easily see how pharmacies are progressing
