Nebulae are diverse interstellar clouds of gas and dust, ranging in size and composition. They play key roles in star formation and can vary in characteristics based on their origin. Reflection nebulae, for example, reflect light from nearby stars and are often associated with ongoing star formation. Discover the intriguing properties and types of nebulae in the vast cosmos.

  1. ASTRONOMY

  2. NEBULA ANY OF NUMEROUS CLOUDS OF GAS OR DUST IN INTERSTELLAR SPACE 1. What is a nebula?

  3. PROPERTIES OF A NEBULA Made of gas and dust Range in size from 1 AU to 10 AU (astronomical unit) One portion of a nebula the size of Earth would weigh only a few kilograms Many are made up of 98% hydrogen and helium and two percent heavier Size, shape and characteristics of nebulae may very because some are star nurseries and others are the remains of dead stars 2. What are nebulae made out of? 3. Approximately how big are nebulae? 4. T/F. A nebula the size of earth would weigh only a few kilograms

  4. 5. What are the 5 types of Nebulae?

  5. REFLECTION NEBULAE Reflection nebulae are clouds of dust which are simply reflecting the light of a nearby star or stars. Reflection nebulae are also usually sites of star formation. They are usually blue because the scattering is more efficient for blue light. Reflection nebulae and emission nebulae are often seen together and are sometimes both referred to as diffuse nebulae. 6. What are reflection nebulae sites of? 7. What color are reflection nebulae?
