Locate on a world and regional political-physical map: Sahara, Sahel, savanna, tropical rain forest, Congo River, Niger River, Nile River, Lake Victoria, Great Rift Valley, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Atlas Mountains, and Kalahari Desert. b. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map the countries of Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Sudan

  3. Learning Targets SS7G1: I can locate selected features of Africa. SS7G3: I can explain the impact of location, climate, and physical characteristics on population distribution in Africa.

  4. Instructional Activities Monday, 12/9/19 KWL Chart over Africa s Geography Africa Video Summarize Video

  5. Instructional Activities Tuesday, 12/10/19 One Minute Sentence over yesterday s video Discuss ways that people in Africa, like all people, are affected by their geography. Encourage students to think about how the local topography, natural resources, and climate shape the lives of people in different countries. DJ Summary: Learners write what they learned in the form of a favorite song. Offer extra praise if they sing.

Instructional Activities Wednesday, 12/11/19 Have students list some of the ways that Africa s people have had an impact on their local geography for example, drilling in Nigeria, deforestation in Ghana, and habitat destruction in Uganda. Explain that students will choose one country in the video and write a short essay about the relationship between its people and its geography. They can discuss how people are affected by the land and climate, the impact people have had on local geography, or both
