MA TERIALS White Glazed Tiles : The tiles shall be of approved and shall generallyconformtoIS:777. They shall be flat and true to shape and free from cracks, blisters, welts, crawling, crazing spots, chipped edges, corners or other imperfections detracting from their appearance. The tiles shall be of square or rectangular of nominal sizes suchas300x200mm,150x150mm,100x100mm. Samplesoftiles shallbegotapprovedbythe Engineer-in- chargebeforeuseonthework. T opsurfaceoftileshallbeglossyor matt asspecified.
PREPARA TIONOFSURFA CE&LA YING Sub grade concrete or RCC slab or side brick wall/ or plastered surfaces on which tiles are to be laid shall be cleaned,wettedandmopped. The bedding/backing for the tile shall be of C.M. 1.3 or as specifiedandshallbeappliedandallowedto harden. The mortar shall be roughened with wire brushes or by scratchingdiagonallines1.5mm. deepat 7.5mm. dadoshallbetruly horizontalandjointstruly vertical. After the tiles have been laid, surplus cement grout shall be cleanedoff.
MORTARANDBEDDING Cement mortar shall conform to the specification for materials, preparations etc. as specified under cement mortar. Theamountofwateraddedwhilepreparingmortar shallbe theminimumnecessaryto givesufficientplasticityfor laying. Careshallbetakeninpreparation ofthemortar to ensure thattherearenohardlumpsthat wouldinterfere witheven beddingofthetiles. Themortar ofspecifiedproportion andthicknessshallthen be evenand smoothly spread overthe basebyuse ofscreed battensto proper levelor slope.
