Essence of Entrepreneurship: Traits, Myths, and Impact

What Makes Someone An
Entrepreneur?

Some Valid Questions to be Asked
Before we go into the Subject

Why and how do people become entrepreneurs?
Why is entrepreneurship beneficial to an
economy?
How can governments encourage
entrepreneurship, and, with it, economic growth?

Who can become an
entrepreneur?

There is no one definitive profile. Successful
entrepreneurs come in various ages, income
levels, gender, and race. They differ in education
and experience.
But research indicates that most successful
entrepreneurs share certain personal attributes,
including: creativity, dedication, determination,
flexibility, leadership, passion, self-confidence,
and “smarts.”

Are you really an entrepreneur?

Are you really a person who takes risks to create change?
Or are you just one of those multitudes who hide under the
title of an ‘entrepreneur’ to make ends meet? So much fuss
about entrepreneurship, yet so little impact. Why?
Because many people going about with the title of an
entrepreneur are not really in it to create change
(significance); they are in it to make a living (survival).
And when survival is the FOCUS, then mediocrity becomes
the OUTCOME.

Entrepreneurship is a Calling

Entrepreneurship is much more than making money.
And like every other calling, it’s people-centered. It’s
never about you, it’s all about others. It’s a calling to
serve; it’s not about what you can accumulate
(money/profit), it’s about what you can contribute
(service/value).
You being an entrepreneur cannot choose yourself.
You are chosen.
