Epiphany Celebrations: Reflections and Prayers for the New Year

The Lord is Here

His Spirit is with us

Let us pray
Father,
you revealed your Son to the nations
by the guidance of a star.
Lead us to your glory in heaven
by the light of faith.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Happy New year 2021

The Epiphany.

“After Jesus was
born in
Bethlehem in
Judea, during
the time of King
Herod, Magi
from the east
came to
Jerusalem…”
Matthew 2:1

This is the time when the 3 wise
men or Kings having travelled a
long distance, arrive to pay their
respects to Jesus as a new born
baby.
I wonder why they travelled so far.
I wonder what motivated them?
I wonder what Mary and Joseph
thought about meeting such
important visitors.

What
does
Epiphany
mean?

'Epiphany' comes from the
Greek word meaning 'to reveal',
as it is when the baby Jesus
was 'revealed' to the world.

This is why you might hear
people say they've had an
epiphany, when they've just
realised something.

In some countries many
families will take off 6 January
and exchange presents. In
Spain and Latin America
, El Dia
de los Rey
es is just as
important as Christmas Day
itsel
f.

Reflect on these artistic
pictures of the visiting
wise men, what do you
notice?

Time to
reflect

Just like the 3 wise men did not
feel certain about the future, nor
do we.
But faith kept them going and helped
them to make wise choices.
I wonder what you are hoping
for
..
I wonder if you met Jesus w
ha
t
you might say to him. Have you
got any questions or anything
important you want to share with
Jesus ? Have a moment to think
quietly in your mind.

Let us
say the
pray
that our
Father
gave us.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against
us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.

"A new year is
unfolding—like a
blossom with
petals curled
tightly concealing
the beauty within
.

Lord, let this year be filled
with the things that are truly
good—with the comfort of
warmth in our relationships,
with the strength to help
those who need our help and
the humility and openness to
accept help from others.
As we make our resolutions
for the year ahead, let us go
forward with great hope that
all things can be possible—
with Your help and
guidance."

May the Lord
bless us with
peace, hope and
love

And make this school a place
of happiness and new
beginnings .
Amen
