DAY 1: The travel from Moshi to Machame Gate takes roughly 50 minutes. The trek passes past the settlement of Machame, which is located on the mountain's lower slopes. DAY 3: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp We climb eastward to the Lava Tower, a 300-foot volcanic feature, and then descend through the rare Senecio Forest to Barranco Camp at 13,000 feet. DAY 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp Around midnight, we begin our difficult summit push, braving bitter cold and wind. We arrive at Uhuru Peak shortly after daybreak around Stella Point, then descend to Mweka Hut, pausing for lunch at Barafu. DAY 7: On the final day, we descend to Mweka Gate and get the summit certificates. At lower levels, it may be damp and muddy. From the gate, we travel another hour to Mweka Village.
