  1. WASH/INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL IN GHANA DR. SAMUEL KABA AKORIYEA DIRECTOR INSTITUTIONAL CARE DIVISION- GHANA HEALTH SERVICE

  2. TRAINING TRAINING IN IPC FOR 170 HEALTH FACILITIES, REGIONAL AND DISTRICT HOSPITALS, ESTABLISH WASH/IPC STRUCTURES, NATIONAL-SUB-DISTRICT. DEVELOPED THE POLICY THIRTY (30) PARTICIPANTS WERE TRAINED IN THE JHPIEGO FIVE REGIONS AND 40 TRAINED IN THE SYSTEMS FOR HEALTH REGIONS IN ALL 350 REGIONAL FACILITATORS WERE TRAINED. THESE FACILITATORS WERE THE REGIONAL TRAINERS IN IPC Surgeon Brooks Washing Hands Sink Animation OVER 34 THOUSAND HEALTH STAFF TRAINED (2016-2017)

DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL TECHNICAL GUIDELINES UNICEF GHANA DEVELOPED WASH TECHNICAL GUIDE BY HIRING A CONSULTANT WHO INTERVIEWED SOME DIRECTORS AT THE GHS HEADQUARTERS THEY WANTED GHANA HEALTH SERVICE TO IMPLEMENT THE DEVELOPED DOCUMENT. THE WASH TECHNICAL COMMITTEE INDICATED THAT THE DOCUMENT WAS NOT KNOWN BY GHS. THERE WAS THE NEED TO EXPOSE THE DOCUMENT TO MANAGERS AND DIRECTORS AT THE REGIONS AND HEADQUARTERS FOR THEIR INPUT AND OWNERSHIP SO THAT IT CAN BE IMPLEMENTED. THIS WAS AGREED AND THE TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP HAD AN INITIAL MEETING WITH NATIONAL WASH/IPC MASTER TRAINERS. SUBSEQUENT MEETINGS INCLUDED OTHER HEADQUARTERS DIVISIONS, REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES THIS WAS TO ORIENT THEM ON THE DOCUMENT AND SEEK FOR THEIR INPUT TO SIMPLIFY THE WORDING AND MAKE IT USER FRIENDLY
