  1. Creative combination play to create goal scoring opportunities SESSION PLAN PRESENTATION

  2. Football Problem Our 9 & 10 often poorly positioned and not able to provide support to each other. Our 7 & 11 also poorly positioned & not making timely runs to support when ball played from 6 and 8. Our 6 or 8 not waiting for or seeing right moment to join attack and also often both going or both holding. Need 6/8 to support attack but also provide depth and block direct counter if we lose ball.

  3. Objectives of the Session To improve the ability of players to develop creativity and combine in the attacking third to create goal scoring opportunities

  4. Positioning Can I get into a position where I can receive the ball? - Away from my opponent - In between defenders - In between the defensive lines - Where I can see & play forward - Where I can run with the ball - Where I can shoot

  5. Passing Practice field or can be done on field Start from c/circle with all balls Follow the ball passing sequence with checking off cones blue to red. Final pass into GK who plays with feet or picks ball up and rolls it to other side of box where player collects it and dribbles back to start. Var- Increase intensity by adding 2ndor 3rdball -Add passive defenders X 2 who rotate out after 1 minute. -Player can check off either cone or take cones away if they can keep shape. -Add both 7 & 11, allow pass to go to any player as long as last pass goes in behind to a front player. Player movement Ball movement

  6. Positioning Game Organization: 2 zones starting from bouncer to BP 6 & 8 v BPO 6 in one zone playing 2 touch must play into their 9 & 10 in end zone who must get past 3 & 4 taking ball over end line to score a point. BPO 3,4 & 6 have 3 passes to play back to server/8 for a point. Team Task: Get 9 or 10 taking ball over end line

  7. Positioning Game Player Tasks: BP team When 6 or 8 can play forward Can 9 & 10 provide high & low passing options to 6 & 8. can high player see ball & deeper player, can deeper player see ball & high player. Can 9 & 10 both position themselves to play ball to each other. 6/8: Can you take your 1st touch forward and play a killer pass between the defenders. Can you play a ball into the feet of the 9 if he shows for the ball Can you keep good width across park so we can switch point of attack. 9:Can you bounce ball back to 10 if you cant play forward Can you play a wall pass with 10 to get in behind Can you play a takeover with 10 to get him in behind

  8. Game Training 14 players: BPO Red 1/2/3/4/5/6/8 v BP Blue 6/8/10/7/9/11 +server/target Bibs, large goal, balls Starting point: Server/Target plays ball in to Blue 6 or 8 from c/circle Defending Red team when in BP have max 5 passes to play out to server/target for a point Explanation/Progression Blue BP team: Keep controlled possession looking for the right moment to play a ball in behind to 1 of our strikers, or look to get ball to 1 of our strikers where they have space to carry the ball in behind. Red BPO team: set a compact defense about edge of back and middle third, closing down ball and direct pass to goal. Limit options of attackers to play effective forward balls. Blue BP Team Task: Get a player facing forward with the ball in front of goal (onside)

  9. Blue BP Player Tasks: 9 Can you stay high to create depth in attack . Can you see the moment when 6/8 are receiving ball and can look and play forward- your time to move for them Can you work across the 3 & 4 to keep them both focused on you & create space between 2-3 & 4-5 Can you get on the outside shoulder of 3 or 4 and take your 1st touch forward into space when you receive a ball. Can you play the ball in behind for 7,11. Can you bounce ball back to 10 if you cant play forward Can you play a wall pass with 10 or 7,11 to get in behind Can you play a takeover with 10 to get him in behind. Can you play a ball into the feet of the 9 if he shows for the ball Can you keep good width across park so we can switch point of attack. Can you play a ball into front foot of 7/11 if 2/5 have dropped off or not slid across. Can you support 7/11 from behind if they are closed down. Can you bounce ball off 10 then angle off in support to create space to pass to 9, 7, 11. Can you play a chip pass over top of defence if they push high. Can you play a pass to 9 or 10 in between the lines where they can turn and face forward

Can you play ball in behind for 7,11 if 9 bounces ball back to you. Can you stepover ball and let it travel through to 9 if you know he is directly behind you. 7/11. Can you stay wide if ball is on your side of pitch and drag defender away to create space inside. Can you carry ball in behind around defender in wide area if he drops off and leaves you space.(1v1) Can you run in behind defender to receive ball if he gets too tight or square. Can you make run into space at right time to support 9 & 10 when they receive ball. Can you get on the outside shoulder of defender and take 1st touch forward in wide areas.
