
Empowering Students: Theodore High School Counseling Program
Theodore High School Counseling Program focuses on providing inclusive services to students, promoting college and career readiness, and fostering leadership skills in a diverse global society. Dr. Mitchell, Mrs. McGuff, and Mrs. Holderfield work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and the community to support academic, social, and personal development. Counseling services include academic planning, college and career preparation, and social/emotional support. Confidentiality is maintained, except in cases where a student's safety is at risk.

THS COUNSELING DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Theodore High School Counseling Program is to use a diverse methodology in providing inclusive services to each student using the Theodore High School Comprehensive School Counseling Curriculum while adhering to the ASCA model standards. Through differentiated instruction, services will promote the knowledge and skills necessary for all Theodore High School students to become college and career ready. The school counseling program will collaborate with school, family and community to motivate and equip students to become educated, competent, respectful and responsible decision-making citizens that will be leaders in a diverse global society. Through strong communication, guidance and advocacy, we believe these goals can be accomplished for each student.
THS COUNSELING VISION STATEMENT Theodore High School students will be equipped to interact as well-rounded adults who will become global leaders in a diverse society.
What Do We Do? Meet with individual students Work with teachers, parents, and administration Support the overall school environment
What Does This Look Like? Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the academic, social/personal, and career development of all students Develop programs to promote a positive, safe, and respectful school culture Help cultivate a campus that is sensitive to the individuality of ALL students Use data to address the needs of the students Provide individual counseling Serve on the advisory council Attend parent teacher conferences, IEP meetings, and parent/student conferences Acquire extended system support when necessary

Lower C Hall: Offices C120, C128 and C129 Ask your teacher if you feel you have an emergency and need to be seen. Otherwise, you can come by between classes or during your lunch. If we are with a parent, teacher or another student, you can leave us a note in the box on our door, or you can try back at a later time. IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY AND WE ARE NOT AVAILABLE, CONTACT ADMINISTRATION.
In Conclusion School counselors have a primary responsibility to ensure their counseling services and the educational program of the school considers the development of every student, including educational, vocational, personal, and social development. In addition, they have the responsibility to follow ethical guidelines.
