  2. INTRODUCTION Today we will be exploring what self-care tools might work best for you and who you can reach out to when you need some extra support. Let s set ground rules and establish boundaries to create a safe space: What you share is confidential and will stay in the room Only volunteering yourself and only sharing your personal experiences Speaking in the I and from your own perspective, vs pluralised pronouns of we and you Are there any more we should add to this list? Looking after you | 2

  3. MINDFULNESSPRACTICE Do you have any self-care strategies? E.g. journaling, yoga, mindful drawing etc. Let s try a meditation practice exercise together: Sit in a comfortable position and listen to the instructions How did you find that exercise? What other practices could you start today? Looking after you | 3

  4. HELPINGHAND Get support handout Think about people and organisations who can help you and start drawing and decorating your own helping hand feel free to get creative! Examples of people and services: Other young people on your programme Parent/guardian Family member Teacher Family friend Childline/The Mix/Samaritans Friends Looking after you | 4

  5. HELPINGHAND Reflect on How did you find that activity? What did you notice when completing your helping hand? Why might it be important to have more than one person to speak to? What can help you to start difficult conversations? E.g. talking to someone you really trust and knowing you won t be judged by that person Looking after you | 5

  6. HELPINGOTHERSHAND Turn over your piece of paper and draw around your other hand Now think about someone who you support when things are tough for that person. Write their name and decorate your hand, as before, with the pens or craft materials Think about What qualities are needed to support someone else? What qualities do others have to support us?   7. WRAPUP Let s discuss as a group What quality would you like a young child to see in you? Looking after you | 7
