Point of Care Pre-Cleaning of Instruments Pre-Cleaning of Instruments begins at the point-of-use. This is an initial cleaning done to remove all bacterial film (called bioburden) so a bacterial layer doesn t form on the instruments.
POC Pre-Cleaning of Instruments The pre-cleaning is important to be completed immediately at the end of the procedure. It will: Prevent bacteria from forming Ensure that the final cleaning in sterile processing is effective Ultimately, protect the instruments
Instrument Pre-Cleaning: How To complete pre-cleaning apply the spray gel provided for this purpose, on the instruments at the completion of the procedure. Watch for the colored gel presence over the surfaces of the instruments
Instrument Pre-Cleaning: When Its important that this is done as soon as the procedure is completed. If allowed to sit or not completely coated the soiling will dry on the instruments and create a bacterial layer making them extremely difficult to clean, or not sterile when all cleaning has been completed.
Instrument Pre-Cleaning: Check To ensure the spray will be effective you need to make sure: You can see the colored gel has covered the instruments The instruments are completely coated
Instrument Pre-Cleaning: Follow-Up Once the gel has been applied the instruments are placed in biohazard bins to be transported to sterile processing.
