2 1 RELIGIOUS AND NATIONAL HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD
AMERICA The US Declaration of Independence was the founding declaration of independence of thirteen American States from British colonialism. It was drafted by Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, and was approved around August 2, 1776 (but symbolically on July 4, 1776) by Congress. It is considered as the founding act of the state of the United States of America.
FRANCE The French Revolution was a period of great social and political upheaval in France, lasting from 1789 to 1799. It overthrew the monarchy, established a form of democracy, went through periods of violent political unrest, and culminated in a dictatorship under Napoleon Bonaparte. Many of the principles of the revolution were transmitted to Western Europe and beyond. Inspired by liberal and radical ideas, the revolution radically changed the course of modern history, causing the decline of absolute monarchies worldwide and their replacement by democracies.
TURKEY Ramadan, from the Turkish Ramadan and the Arabic Ramadan, is a religious Muslim holiday of fasting. It is the name of the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which, according to tradition, the Koran was given to people so that its rules could be a guide for their lives.
ISRAEL The Jewish Passover is a very important Jewish holiday for liberation of the people of Israel from Egypt.
ISRAEL Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday commemorating the restoration of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem, at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucids. Hanukkah is celebrated for eight nights and days, beginning on the 25th day of the month of Kislev according to the Jewish calendar, which can correspond to any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. It is also known as the Feast of Lights and the Feast of Devotion.
MEXICO The Day of the Dead is a Central American holiday celebrating the transitory return to Earth of deceased relatives and loved ones. It is celebrated throughout Mexico, especially in the central and southern regions. at the end of October and the beginning of November, a period which coincides with the completion of the annual cycle of corn cultivation. Since 2008, Day of the Dead traditions have been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
JAPAN It is held on May 3 each year to commemorate the enactment of the Constitution of Japan in 1947. It is celebrated as part of Japan's Golden Week celebrations. The Constitution of Japan is also known as the Peace Constitution because it emphasizes the establishment of peace (Article 9 of the Constitution).
HELLAS Easter Sunday, One of the Sabbaths, King and Lady, Feast of Feasts and Feast of Feasts is the day on which, according to the Christian calendar, the Bright and Life-giving Resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated, the victory of life over death , the fall and overthrow of Hades by the Risen Christ and the reparation of Adam and with him the entire human race from original sin. "Death is celebrated in death, Hell is excommunicated, another life, the eternal beginning". It is the greatest celebration of Christianity, as its teachings and doctrine are fulfilled on this day.
RUSSIA Russia Day officially known as the Day of the Adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the USSR before 2002, is the national holiday of the Russian Federation. It has been celebrated every year starting on June 12 since 1992.[1] It commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on June 12, 1990. The passage of the declaration by the First Congress of People's Deputies marked the beginning of constitutional reform in the Russian Soviet republic.
CYPRUS In Cyprus, Independence Day is celebrated on October 1st. Normally Cyprus gained its Independence on 16 August and 1 October was later set to celebrate Independence. The anniversary is celebrated with special school holidays and a large military parade in Nicosia.
