  2. Different Ways to Ask Questions What is the purpose or spirit of the next series of questions? How might they lead to different conversations?

  3. INVITE DEEPER EXPLORATION Values, hopes, and ideals What do you think about all those Confederate flags out there? What are your thoughts and feelings when you see a Confederate flag on a car or house? If you display one, what does it mean to you?

  4. GENERATE HOPE and POSSIBILITY Opportunity, not problems How can we dismantle patriarchy in our houses of worship? What is your vision for women s roles in your house of worship?

  5. GENUINE Doesn t have a predetermined answer What do you think about the terrible new tax bill? What services do you think are most important for the government to provide?

  6. OPEN-ENDED Can t be answered with yes or a no Do you think everyone should get the Covid vaccine? What has you experience been like living through the pandemic?

  7. FREE FROM IDEOLOGICAL or CULTURAL ASSUMPTIONS Isn t it archaic to maintain a kosher home in the 21stcentury? What is meaningful to you about maintaining a kosher home?

  8. FREE FROM IDEOLOGICAL or CULTURAL ASSUMPTIONS Don t you think it s oppressive for women to wear a hijab? What does it mean to you to wear (or not wear) a hijab?
