COVID-19 Tabletop Exercise Date Time
Exercise Guidelines Please utilize school guidance documents provided by the Delaware General Health District to guide participants through discussion questions. Open, low-stress, no-fault environment. Varying viewpoints are expected. Respond to the scenario using your knowledge of current plans, capabilities, and insights derived from your training. This is an opportunity to discuss and present multiple options and possible solutions. Do not fight the scenario. Participant interaction is limited to those in attendance. Tabletop exercises are discussion based exercises used to evaluate plans not people.
Exercise Goals and Objectives Understand our roles and responsibilities during a COVID- 19 outbreak. Identify gaps in knowledge regarding Delaware County school response. Identify gaps in knowledge regarding public health guidance and recommendations for COVID-19. Develop understanding of our interactions with internal staff, students, families, and other partners.

Scenario #1 Scenario #1 Tuesday 9/8/2020 9:40am Tuesday 9/8/2020 9:40am School receives a phone call from the Delaware General Health District that a student in classroom A is a probable COVID-19 case. Discussion Questions: Where is your isolation room? What are the qualities of your isolation room? How would you be able to quarantine a classroom at a moment's notice? How will you fulfill the basic needs of the students and faculty in the quarantined classroom? What plans do you have for students who begin acting out with bad behavior? How will these students and faculty get home?
Scenario #2 Scenario #2 Thursday 10/9/2020 1:15pm Thursday 10/9/2020 1:15pm A child in classroom B tells teacher that they are not feeling well, they specifically are experiencing a headache and a stomachache. Discussion Questions What is the case definition of COVID-19? Will this child and/or the classroom be isolated or quarantined? What steps will staff take to care for this child? What will be communicated to the rest of the classroom? How will gossip and/or panic from students and/or faculty be handled by school district?
Scenario #3 Scenario #3 Friday 11/20/2020 3:15pm Friday 11/20/2020 3:15pm School was informed earlier in the day by Delaware General Health District of a probable COVID-19 case in Classroom C. That child was placed into an isolation area and the entire classroom has been placed on quarantine. Discussion Questions Who will be contacted at this point? What communications will be had with parents and guardians? What communications will be had with students and staff?
Scenario #4 Scenario #4 Tuesday 12/09/2020 11:00am Tuesday 12/09/2020 11:00am Delaware General Health District calls school to inform them that a student from Classroom D has officially tested positive for COVID-19. The child is not currently at school, they did not come to school today because of their illness. The health department needs the school to provide the students' contacts and activity from school. Discussion Questions What information will be prepared to be provided to Delaware General Health District? Who will provide this information to Delaware General Health District? Who needs to be contacted by the school at this point? What additional steps must be taken by the school after talking with the health department?
Scenario #5 Scenario #5 Tuesday 01/27/2021 8:50am Tuesday 01/27/2021 8:50am A parent contacts the school to inform them that they have been alerted by Delaware General Health District that their child is a case contact of a probable COVID-19 case. Their child is currently at the school and took the school bus to attend today. Discussion Questions What is the protocol for accountability of school bus passengers? What is the process for decontamination for school buses? What protective strategies will be implemented in school transportation?
