  2. Three Elements the BBS Requires to be Included in a Course Syllabus 1. Measurable Learning Objectives 2. Educational Goal(s) 3. Outline with Main Points for each Topic CAMFT Best Practices also include: Course description Instructor information A timeline

  3. Four Qualifications That an Instructor Must Have At Least Two of. 1. Hold a license, registration, or certificate in an area related to the subject matter of the course. The license registration or certificate shall be current, valid, and free from restrictions due to disciplinary action by the Board of Behavioral Sciences or any other health care regulatory agency; 2. Possess a master s or higher degree from an educational institution in an area related to the subject matter of the course; 3. Have training, certification, or experience in teaching subject-matter related to the subject matter of the course; or 4. Possess at least two years of experience in an area related to the subject matter of the course.

  4. Items That Must be Included on the Course Evaluation. 1. Specific Learning Objectives Listed 2. Course Name 3. Course Date 4. Presenter(s)

  5. Questions That Should be Included on the Course Evaluation. (CAMFT Best Practices) Course appropriateness to participants education, experience, and licensure level; Relevance to the practice; Effectiveness of the presentation, including use of experiential or activelearning; Suitability and/or usefulness of instructional materials; Currency and accuracy of the information; Instructor s knowledge of the subject matter; Instructor s clarity of delivery; Instructor s responsiveness to participants; and Location, facilities and administration of the program; Adequacy of technology support, i.e. questions or problems were addressed effectively and in a timely manner (distance-learning only); Contribution of technology to learning (distance-learning only); and Degree to which course technology was user-friendly (distance-learning only).

  6. Elements that Must be Included in the Certificate of Course Completion. 1. Name of the licensee and license number or other identificationnumber; 2. Course title; 3. Provider name and mailing address; 4. Board-recognized approval agency name (CAMFT); 5. Date of the course; 6. Number of hours of continuing education credit;and 7. Signature of the course instructor, provider, or provider designee.

  7. Mandatory Items That Must be Included on Your Promotional Material. 1. Course Description and Measurable Learning Objectives 2. Provider Name and Number 3. Refund/Cancellation Policy 4. BBS Statement (Course meets the qualifications for ___ hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences)

  8. Items That Should be Included on the Promotional Materials. (CAMFT Best Practices) The course title; A description of the targetaudience; The course schedule; Aclearindicationofanyactivitieswithinthecourseor programthatarenot offeredfor continuing educationcredit(i.e., meals and other breaks); The instructor s name and credentials, including relevant professional degree and discipline, current professional position, and expertise in programcontent; The cost of the course, including all fees; Instructions for requesting accommodations fordisability; Instructions for addressing grievances; A statement of when and how course completion certificates will be awarded; The statement [insert organization/provider name] is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapiststosponsorcontinuingeducationfor [insertthe title(s) ofthe target audience]. [insertorganization/provider name] maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content

  9. Records That a Provider Must Keep for a Minimum of Four Years. 1. Syllabi for all courses; 2. The time and location of all courses; 3. Course Promotional Material; 4. Course instructor(s) Resume/CV; 5. Attendance rosters with the names of all participants and the license numbers of licensees who attended the courses; 6. Sign-in sheets; and 7. Records of course completion issued to licensees who attended the courses.
