7. Parts of Speech Parts of Speech What is Parts of Speech? Every single word we use in a sentence is called a Part of Speech. Example: Karim is a good boy. Here Karim,is,a,good,boy All these words are Parts of Speech.

8. Classification of Parts of Speech There are eight parts of speech in the English language:

9. Parts of Speech Parts of Speech- -Noun Noun Noun means a word that is the name of something (such as a person, animal, place, thing, quality, idea, or action). Naming words= Noun Example: Bangladesh is a beautiful country. Bangladesh= Name of a country.

10. Parts of Speech-Pronoun Pronoun A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. It is used to avoid the repetition of noun. Example: Sima is a girl.She(Sima) is very intelligent.She(Sima) looks pretty. Here, She is used in stead of Sima .

11. Parts of Speech-Adjective Adjective Adjectives are words that are used to describe or modify nouns or pronouns. It mainly indicates fault,quality,number,quantity&situation/position of a noun or pronoun. Example: Shanta is a good girl. Jui has five pens. Keya is rich. Sofi is a bad boy. Marium drinks much water.

12. Parts of Speech-Verb Verb Verb:a verb is a word used to indicate an action. It is the heart of english language.No sentence is craeted without verb. For example: They walk in the morning. The baby sleeps at night. Ariana eats her favourite dish.

13. Parts of Speech Parts of Speech- Adverb Adverb An adverb is a word/a set of words that modifies verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. It tells when, where, and how an action is performed or indicates the quality or degree of the action. For example: The bird flies swiftly. The man walks slowly. Swiftly=Adverb Slowly=Adverb

14. Parts of Speech-Preposition Preposition A preposition is a word that indicates the relationship between a noun and the other words of a sentence. For example: The ball is in the box. The apple is on the table. On=Preposition

15. Parts of Speech-Conjunction Conjunction Conjunctions are words that link other words, phrases, or clauses together. For example: Trumph and Obama are friends. He is poor but honest. Do or die.

16. Parts of Speech -Interjection Interjection Interjections are words used to express strong feeling or sudden emotion. They are included in a sentence (usually at the start) to express a sentiment such as surprise, disgust, joy, excitement, or enthusiasm. For example: Hurray! I have won the game. Hurray= Interjection
