This set of tasks aims to prepare students for Year 12 studies in Health and Social Care. Health and Social Care Year 12 Preparation work
Task 1: Create a list of Health and Social Care settings/Professions (Min of 15): For each one write a paragraph which identifies: If it is a Health or Social Care Setting? Who may use the setting/professional and why?
Task 2: Create 2 job adverts, one for a health care worker and one for a social care worker. (You can choose the specific professional.) For each one you need to summarise Training required Roles and responsibilities Job description/Typical daily activities Average working hours Working environment/clients. Job progression/development opportunities.
Task 3: Research and then create an academic poster on Equality, Diversity and Rights, it must include: Explanation of what equality, diversity and rights are. Description of how a setting can ensure it promotes equality, diversity and rights. Using a case study evaluate the effectiveness of promotion of equality diversity and rights. When giving examples always use Health and Social Care specific ones e.g a resident in a care home Discuss how 2 different Health and Social Care Professionals would ensure equality, diversity and rights is used.
Task 4: Visit a range of Health and Social Care settings, gather leaflets, brochures etc. (min of 3) At least one brochure/leaflet must be about a health disorder. (Please submit the leaflets/brochures with your transition work)
Task 5: Anatomy and Physiology Create labelled and coloured diagrams of the following body systems: Cardiovascular System Respiratory System Digestive System Musculoskeletal System Nervous System
Task 6: Anatomy and Physiology Create labelled and coloured diagrams of the following organs: Heart Lungs Brain Kidney Eye Ear
Task 7: Research 2 of the following and make notes on the case studies: Victoria Climbie Baby P Genie (Feral Child) Oxana Malaya Staffordshire NHS Scandal Winterbourne View Oakfrost Care Home Hill Croft
