Community REACH: Connecting UWE Students with Bristol Communities
Community REACH is a project aimed at promoting connections between UWE students and community groups in Bristol areas with historically low higher education participation. Through collaborative events and partnerships, the project seeks to raise awareness of UWE as an inclusive university, engaging with various stakeholders including faculty members, community sponsors, and student societies. With a focus on building relationships and delivering impactful projects, Community REACH is fostering a sense of inclusivity and opportunity within the Bristol community.

LPW - Robot Wars & PondLife projects Feedback from Lockleaze Youth Club after attending the National Robot Wars event at UWE We had a wonderful day! Some of the YP (young persons) said it was the best trip they had ever been on. I also had a father pop in today and thank us as both his sons are now convinced they want to do engineering at UWE! Peter Woods-Wetton, Lead Engagement Worker, Learning Partnership West CIC I thoroughly enjoyed putting the project together with everyone involved and hope to be planning some similar projects over the summer with the new MedSoc committee. It was one of the most rewarding events MedSoc has worked on this year. Cameron Smith, Vice President of the Medical Society & Biomedical Science student
The Challenges break out groups 1. How do we effectively recruit & mentor relevant interested students? 22 societies signed up - only 5 turned up to Sandpit event 7 events - not all delivered yet 2. How do we expand our links with community groups in LP areas? Existing community partnership leads informed our project design Development of personal leads were essential to delivery. 3. How do we expand the staff steering group from here? Project team was put together to deliver on a UWE 2020 strategy. Participants in UWE leadership training program.
