  4. CRU ACTIVITIES : ACCESS Gain access to Electronic Health Record (EHR) Primary data sources Epic: encounter information, diagnoses, procedures, immunizations, medications, laboratory (Quest, Labcorp and Hospital), flowsheet data CDW: CHOP Data Warehouse containing data from both legacy systems and EPIC Including inpatient and ambulatory data from all care network practices and specialties 4

  5. CRU ACTIVITIES : REVIEW Resolve inconsistencies and anomalies with the data Iteratively tweak queries Collaboration between the CRU and the research teams to find and minimize the effects of these anomalies Inconsistency Not all sites populate the same data fields with the same degree of precision (e.g. fully clothed weight on a hallway scale) Just because a template exists and should be used does not mean it is actually used Reset expectations about what data is available for research purposes 5

  6. CRU ACTIVITIES : OUTPUT Provide custom formatted deliverables REDCap databases XML tab- or comma-delimited text Excel spreadsheets QlikView PEDSnet/OMOP/PCORNET formats 6
