South Carolina Public Records Act includes all books, papers, maps, photographs, cards, tapes, recordings, or other documentary materials regardless of physical form or characteristics prepared, owned, used, in the possession of, or retained by a public body -Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, Section 30-4-20(c) as amended by The Freedom of Information Act
Recommendations Develop a statement of needs Identify the records and classify the records/data Develop standard naming conventions Create file plan Identify storage location for active records and non-active records Determine procedures for transferring records of enduring value to the archives Design and implement a communications plan and training activities
