Change Management in Organizations

CHANGE MANAGEMENT

WHAT IS CHANGE MANAGEMENT?

Change management takes care of the
people side of change
Change management is the process, tools
and techniques to manage the people side
of change to achieve its required
business/Rotary outcomes

WHY CHANGE MANAGEMENT
MATTERS

Organizational change happens one
person at a time
Poorly managing change is costly
Effective change management increases the
likelihood of success

SOME CHANGE MANAGEMENT
EXAMPLES

Who has managed a change in a business?
Volunteers to share their experience?
How did it go?
Could it have gone better?
Using 20-20 hindsight, if you had to do it
again……..?

ANY CHANGES ON THE HORIZON FOR
YOUR CLUB?

Who is anticipating or currently in a
change within your club?
Examples?
Expecting it to be an easy
change or like pulling teeth?
Why?

CHANGE MANAGEMENT PROCESS

Three Stages to Implementing a change
1. Preparing for the change
Make sure you establish a team, don’t do this
on your own
Why should you not do this alone?
 2. Managing the change
 3. Reinforcing the change

PREPARING - PEOPLE’S REACTION TO
CHANGE

MANAGING THE CHANGE IN THE
CLUB

How does the club president help the club members
adapt to changes in the club?
Is there a communication plan?
Is there a resistance management plan?
What things can be done to make change palatable to
members?

REINFORCING THE CHANGE

The change is in place
How’s it going?
Is there a need to review:
Why we made this change?
What are the benefits to the club of this change?
If the change is going well, no hiccups, could this
stage be skipped?
