Whatsapp and the Gospel
As a culture, we are craving for community!
1 John 1:1-9 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:1-9

1. Proclaiming Christ Jesus builds community
3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us.
1. Who he is proclaiming to 2. What he is proclaiming 3. How proclaiming Christ Jesus builds community
1 john 1:1-9 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
All of us live in the big gap between what we know about Jesus and what we experience of Him.
We live in the knowledge of Jesus, but sadly we often don't enjoy the experience of Him.
1. Proclaiming Christ Jesus builds community
2. Confessing our sins builds community
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
One action: If we walk in the light Two consequences: 1. We have fellowship with one another 2. The blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin
1 John 1:7-9
Understanding walking in the light Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. 1 John 3:20&21
7 But if confess our sins to one another, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
2. Confessing our sins builds community
If we cannot see our sin daily, we will not feel the need for a saviour daily
Two caveats Confession is only the beginning of the process of repentance, not its completion Confessing our sin to one another does not give us the license to continue indulging in it
3. How whatsapp can be a tool to make our joy complete
1 john 1:3-4 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete
We write about our experience of Christ Jesus to make our joy complete. If we do not write about our experience of a Christ Jesus, our joy will be incomplete!
1. Proclaiming Christ Jesus builds community 2. Confessing our sins builds community 3. We use whatsapp to share our daily experience of the Gospel (both of the above) with our community to make our joy complete
