BTEC NATIONAL EXTENDED CERTIFICTE IN SPORT
Course Content 4 units over the 2 years, including; Anatomy and Physiology- assessed by a written exam (25%). Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well Being assessed by synoptic assessment (25%). Professional Development in the Sports Industry Assessed by coursework (25%). Sports Coaching Assessed by practical assessment and coursework (25%).
Externally Assessed Units Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology Learners explore how the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems function and the fundamentals of the energy systems. Written examination set and marked by the exam board. (1.5 hours) Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well- being Learners explore client screening and lifestyle assessment, fitness training methods and fitness programming to support improvements in a client s health and well-being. A task set and marked externally and completed under supervised conditions.
Internally Assessed Units Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry Learners explore the knowledge and skills required for different career pathways in the sports industry. Unit 4: Sports Leadership Learners study what makes a good leader, the different capacities of this role, and the leadership skills and techniques necessary when leading activities in different roles.
Task 1 Label an image of a skeleton with the major bones of the body -a copy of a skeleton has been included at the back of this booklet. You MUST label the following: cranium, clavicle, ribs, sternum, scapula, humerus, radius, ulna, carpals, metacarpals, phalanges, pelvis, vertebral column (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum, coccyx), femur, patella, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metatarsals.
