Brightpoint Nursing Reason for a Practical Nurse Program Requests from students who are not prepared to take on the rigors and time for a 5 semester Registered Nurse Program Time of the program Cost of program Community needs and support for the program LPN to RN bridge program (begins Summer 2023)

Eligibility Admission to the Practical Nursing program Admission to Brightpoint 18-years or older Completed prerequisite courses or currently taking Highschool diploma or GED Must have passed with C or better Met with an Advisor at Help Hub Completed ATI TEAS 7 with score of proficient or advanced Completed Brightpoint Application Submit Certificate of Completion from VA approved Nurse Aide program or currently hold CNA Enrolled as a student at Brightpoint Competed placement testing Completed the Practical Nursing application on Nursing website under additional information Submit official transcripts to Admissions and Records

Costs (approximate) Tuition: $ 160 per credit hour (40 Credit hours) $ 6400 Required Books and Materials: All prices are estimated Ebook package (required): (Additional hard or paperback copies of textbooks available as supplement) $ 300 (estimated) HESI package (required): $ 500 Skills kits (required): $ 250 Uniforms (required): $ 50 (60) Total Estimated Cost $ 7900+ $ 700

  6. Financing The Practical Nurse program is approved for G3 funding and Federal Financial Aid Brightpoint Community College Foundation offers substantial scholarship money available for nursing students. Applications open Spring 2023 Financial Aid counseling available through the Help Hub

  7. Prerequisite courses BIO 141: Anatomy and Physiology I Prerequisite: BIO 101: General Biology or Natural Sciences 2 (NAS 2) Self directed course. May test out with successfully passing final exam NAS 2 information ENT 111: College Composition I HLT 143: Medical Terminology PSY 230: Developmental Psychology SDV 100: College Success Skills May be currently enrolled and taking the course *Acceptance will be conditional on achieving a grade of C or better.

Courses Second Semester First Semester Prerequisite courses (14 cr) PNE 145: Trends in Practical Nursing (1 cr) Second Semester (after acceptance) PNE 158: Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing (1 cr) PNE 162: Health Concepts II (11 cr) Clinical/Lab hours 5 cr (225 hours) PNE 164: Health Concepts IV (11 cr) PNE 174: Applied Pharmacology for Practical Nursing (2 cr) Clinical hours: 6 cr (270 hours) Lab hours 1 cr (45 hours) Total credits: 40 cr

Additional Information At this time the program is fully on campus in late afternoons and evenings Clinicals will be scheduled during faculty and agency availability including days, evenings, and weekends Currently PNE 162 on weekends Currently PNE 164 on weekdays ** Subject to change LPN to RN bridge program to start Summer 2023
