Learn about what different animals eat (herbivores,  carnivores
and omnivores)
 
 
Be able to say whether an animal is a herbivore or a carnivore
 
Brainstorm – What do Animals Eat?
 
Discuss as a class for 5 minutes what animals eat
You can think about your pets or wild animals
Do they all eat the same things?
Do some animals have different diets?

There is a special name for animals who only eat
PLANTS:
 
HERBIVORES
 
“Herb” means plant
What do these animals eat?

There is a special name for animals who only eat
MEAT:
 
CARNIVORES
 
“Carne” means meat
 
An animal that eats other animals is called a
PREDATOR
 
An animal that gets eaten by other animals is called
PREY
What do these animals eat?
 
Humans

Foxes
 
There is a special name for animals that eat both plants
and meat:
 
OMNIVORES
 
“Omni” means everything.
If an omnivore eats another animal we still call it a
predator.
