2. Today we will: Learn about what different animals eat (herbivores, carnivores and omnivores) Be able to say whether an animal is a herbivore or a carnivore

3. Brainstorm What do Animals Eat? Discuss as a class for 5 minutes what animals eat You can think about your pets or wild animals Do they all eat the same things? Do some animals have different diets?

4. What do these animals eat? Cows Rabbits Giraffes

5. There is a special name for animals who only eat PLANTS: HERBIVORES Herb means plant

6. What do these animals eat? Lions Crocodiles Sharks

7. There is a special name for animals who only eat MEAT: CARNIVORES Carne means meat An animal that eats other animals is called a PREDATOR An animal that gets eaten by other animals is called PREY

8. What do these animals eat? Bears Foxes Humans!

9. There is a special name for animals that eat both plants and meat: OMNIVORES Omni means everything. If an omnivore eats another animal we still call it a predator.

11. TASK On the next page there are pictures of lots of different animals. 1. Cut them out. 2. Decide whether they are CARNIVORES (only eat meat), HERBIVORES (only eat plants) or OMNIVORES (eat meat and plants) 3. Stick them under the correct heading in the table on the last sheet.
