8 Safety Measures While Waiting For a Car Towing Service Car breakdowns are quite common and unfortunately, once your car is in repair condition you have no choice but to wait till the towing service arrives. Most towing companies arrive as early as possible but there is no fixed period for when they will arrive. Therefore, in any location, whether a busy city street or lonely countryside, you must be prepared to stay safe while the car recovery transport arrives. Things to do while waiting for the car towing service provider- 1) Keep out of traffic
The moment your car breaks down immediately move your car out of the way of traffic. You should move to the sides of the lane without creating any disturbance for the vehicle movement. 2) Turn on your alert lights Make sure your hazard lights are switched on and ensure they remain turned on till the recovery truck arrives. This will help the drivers on the road to know that your car has some problem and also gives better visibility of the car in the dark. After turning on the lights call and wait for the towing service to arrive. 3) Use a safety triangle Not all cars have a safety triangle but if you have it is advisable to use it. Place the safety triangle approximately 30 meters away from the car towards the traffic movement direction but without pushing yourself in danger. The reflective triangles are highly visible and it
alerts the other drivers on the road to drive at a distance from the stationary car. 4) Keep your valuables safe For safety purposes, carrying any valuables in the car with you while you wait for the car towing service is advised. This can help you avoid any theft or damage to the valuables. 5) Get out of your car Staying inside the car might seem safer but it is not true. It would be best if you got out of the vehicle, making sure it is safe to do so, and also advise your co-passengers to do the same. 6) Choose a safe waiting location After stepping out of the vehicle choose a safe location to wait until the towing service arrives. This has to be a place a little away from the car. If you are on the motorway, it is advisable to wait at a
distance from the car and behind the crash bars almost close to the grass verge. 7) Don t drain your mobile battery You may have a lot of idle time while waiting for the car recovery services, but don t drain your mobile battery by playing games or surfing social media. You may need your phone to make an emergency call or call the towing service company again to help them with directions to reach your location. 8) Don t accept rides from strangers Not all drivers have bad intentions but it is still advised to turn down any offer for a lift from strangers irrespective of how desperate you are to reach the destination. It is recommended to have details of the towing companies that would reach your location and offer you recovery service handy during your travel. We hope your car doesn t get stuck in the middle
of the road but if you come across any such situation keep in mind the above points to be safe until the car recovery company arrives for assistance.
