Talking with God = Engaging in an affectionate discourse between child and Father (Matt. 6:9; Heb. 4:16) Communing with God = Spend personal time with God (Jas. 4:8; Eph. 3:12) Opening Heart to God = Letting God see deep within and making oneself vulnerable before Him (Psa. 139:23-24; Rom. 10:1) Casting Cares upon God = Openly sharing concerns, problems and needs (1 Pet. 5:7; Phil. 4:6) Seeking Counsel from God = Longing for guidance from the omniscient and omnibenevolent God (Psa. 139:24; 5:8; 25:4-5; 31:3
Certainty = God is there, even though I cannot see Him (Jas. 1:6-7; Heb. 11:6)! Trust = God knows best and will do best He s in control and not me (Prov. 3:5-6; Rom. 8:28; Matt. 6:19-34)! Assurance = God hears me and really listens to me (1 John 5:14; Psa. 3:4; 4:3)! Expectation = God answers me (1 John 5:15; Matt. 7:7-8; 21:22; John 15:7; Isa. 65:24)! Dependence = I need God His power, love, guidance, resources, understanding, support, strength, etc. (Jer. 10:23; 1 Kgs. 3:7; Psa. 23; John 15:5; Heb. 13:6)!
Constancy = Maintaining a prayerful state of mind/heart (Rom. 12:12; 1 Thess. 5:17) Regularity = Having a set time every day (Dan. 6:10; Psa. 55:17; Mark 1:35) Repetition = Asking unashamedly the same thing (Matt. 15:21-28; 2 Cor. 12:7-9) Persistence = Pressing intently and not giving up (Luke 11:5-10; 18:1-8; Matt. 26:44)
Reverence = Finite, sinful creature in the presence of infinite, holy God (Psa. 89:7; 96:7-9; 99:1-3; 111:9; 114:7) Wholeheartedness = Seeking the Lord s favor cannot be done half-hearted (Psa. 119:2, 10, 58, 145; Matt. 6:5-8; Rom. 10:1) Earnestness = Real prayer takes time, work, diligence, striving (Luke 22:44; 18:7; Rom. 15:30; Jas. 5:16; Col. 4:12) Watchfulness = Real prayer demands awareness, seriousness, urgency and endurance (Matt. 26:41; 1 Pet. 4:7; Col. 4:2) Boldness = Approach God with an absolute and energized confidence in Him, His presence, His power, His promises (Heb. 4:16; 10:19; Eph. 3:12)

Find a quiet time every day, for 28 consecutive days, when you can pray fervently, repeatedly, reverently, confidently, expectantly, sincerely and humbly to your Father in heaven! Make this a special part of every day. Spend time earnestly pouring your heart out to God at a set time for 28 days. You might use the 6-sentence prayer forms on each page of the booklet to focus your thoughts. Then, heartily and persistently appeal to God for that day s special plea. Try to focus on that special plea throughout the day, and talk to God about it at least 3-4 times that day. Talk to God more closely for these 28 days than you ever have before! Let s pray together for 28 days...
Day #1 to Talk to God More Closely In everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be made known to God (Phil. 4:6). Take time to fill in this prayer list for today. Then, talk to God. 1. Exaltation: LORD, YOU ARE 2. Supplication: PLEASE HELP ME 3. Intercession: PLEASE BE WITH 4. Appreciation: THANK YOU FOR 5. Confession: PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR 6. Submission: NOT MY WILL BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE Special Plea for Day #1: Make a fervent, repeated, confident plea to God today for God s will to be done on this earth and in my life (Matt. 6:10; 26:39; Jas. 4:15; John 8:29) Let s pray together for 28 days...
