  2. Early life Selena was born in 1971, on April 16. She grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was quickly distinguished by family members to have great tone and rhythm. By the age of 10, she was the singer of the family s band Selena Y Los Dinos while her sister played the drums, and her brother was on bass.

  3. Family Born into the Quintanilla family, Selena has 2 siblings her brother Abraham, her sister, Suzette and she has her mother and father. The Quintanilla family s nationality is Mexican but she is American because she was born in Texas.

  4. Education When Selena turned seventeen, her parents fought with the school because the teachers said she needed to stop her singing and start getting education because she would need it as she grew. Selena earned a high school diploma from the American School of Correspondence in Chicago. She enrolled at Pacific Western University, taking up business administration as her major subject.

  5. Acknowledgement People knew Selena as the Hispanic woman in the band Y Los Dinos who made major long time hits in the singing world dominated by men. She was also known for her amazing fashion and leading a new era of fashion just by the way she dressed.

  6. Accomplishments Her accomplishments were being the greatest Hispanic singer of all time and followed by that, her big hits that have been popular for decades. She was the first woman to triumph over the singing world, dominated by men.

  7. Passing away On March 31, 1995, Selena passed, getting shot in the lower right shoulder by a woman named Saldivar. It is sad to say that Selena has passed, but her music and fashion have at least moved forwards towards a new generation and future.

  8. Memorial and Events After Selena had passed, the president decided that April 16thShould always be Selena day, a day where fans in Texas go to her memorial museum to donate and respect her listen to her music and pay respects with flowers and albums.
