  3. Corandic is an emurient grof with many fribs; it granks with corite, an olg which cargs like lange. Corite grinkles several other tarances, which garkers excarp by glarcking the corite and starping it in tranker-clarped strobs. An emurient grof Corite 1. What is corandic? 2. 5. 1. Background knowledge The platform was a battlefield: seventy yards of carnage transplanted straight from the coasts of northern France. Smoke billowed; people clung to each other. There were cries of pain, howls of despair as loved ones were ripped apart. There were silent tears too, quiet reassurances whispered into ears: that this was temporary, that it changed nothing, I am still your mother, your parent. Against the tide of devastation walked a boy: tutting and huffing at the tears and carrying-on. He looked just like any of the other evacuees in the station: regulation case, tag and gas mask box. 7. 2. Vocabulary I had permission to walk home as Dad couldn t drive after his accident and Grams wasn t allowed to drive after she crashed into the war memorial in the centre of town. I think the doctor said it was because she had guacamole in her eyes which is odd because she wouldn t eat foreign food. FSD T&L Conference 2022 @FSDConferences #FSD2022

  9. 3. Low reading miles Simply reading challenging, complex novels aloud and at a fast pace in each lesson repositioned poorer readers as good readers, giving them a more engaged uninterrupted reading experience over a sustained period, the researchers wrote. 13. On this summer afternoon, Little Billy was kneeling in the living room, gazing out through the window at the wonderful world beyond. His mother was in the kitchen doing the ironing and although the door was open she couldn t see him. Every now an again his mother would call, Little Billy, what are you doing? And Little Billy would always call back and say, I m being good Mummy. But Little Billy was awfully tired of being good. FSD T&L Conference 2022 @FSDConferences #FSD2022

  17. Heres something you wont believe. I, Cymbeline Igloo, have never been swimming. You won t believe I ve never been swimming because I mean totally never. Not ever. Not once, in my whole life. I am nine years old! I am the third-best footballer in Year 4 (joint) and the second-best at roller-skating after Elizabeth Fisher and she goes to a club on Sundays. I am fit and healthy and totally normal in every way (apart from my name) but I have never set foot in the sea, a river or a lake, not to mention an actual, normal, everyday swimming pool. Not in my life. Until last Monday. FSD T&L Conference 2022 @FSDConferences #FSD2022

  19. teaching reading comprehension is a meticulous process. It is the purposeful, gradual adding of dots to the canvas of children s understanding. Each word, each sentence and each paragraph is the opportunity to add further dots, and this is best achieved by focusing on the meaning of well chosen texts, one by one A dot here, a dot there, and over time the expertise of reading emerges for each child like a pointillist landscape. This may sound awfully gradual, but teaching reading is an incremental process in which every lesson is a tiny contribution to something vast. We should face the reality of it, in all its painstaking magnificence and adapt our instruction accordingly. Christopher Such FSD T&L Conference 2022 @FSDConferences #FSD2022
