  1. Celebration of the Eucharist Monday, May 06, 2024 Catholic Education Week

  2. Greeting and Welcome Called to Love as People of Hope As we celebrate the gift of Catholic Education today, we reflect on our calling to love as people of hope. We also reflect today on the life of St. Fran ois de Laval. St. Fran ois came to Canada from France in the 17th century to grow the church and share the Gospel. St. Fran ois always showed great love for the sick, those who were being unjustly treated, and he worked his whole life to better the education of children and seminarians. As Easter people of hope, we give thanks to God for Catholic education and the life of St. Fran ois de Laval. Please join in the singing of our opening hymn: ___________________________

  3. Gathering Hymn Like a Shepherd (B Dufford) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cGCBehpN3o Shepherd Me, O God (M. Haugen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KYM1RfpMjs

  4. First Reading: 2 Timothy 4.1-5 A reading from the second letter of Paul to Timothy. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly urge you: proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favourable or unfavourable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths. As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

  5. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 96 The Response to the Psalm is: R. Proclaim God s marvelous deeds to all the nations. O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name. R. Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, tell of his marvellous works among all the peoples. R.

  6. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 96 R. Proclaim God s marvelous deeds to all the nations. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name. R. Say among the nations, The Lord is king! The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity. R.

  7. Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, Alleluia! The Spirit of truth will bear witness to me, says the Lord, and you also will be my witnesses. Alleluia.

  8. Proclamation of the Gospel The Lord be with you. R. And with your Spirit. A reading from the holy gospel according to John. R. Glory to you, Lord

  9. Gospel: John 10:11-16 Jesus said to the Pharisees, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. The gospel of the Lord. R. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
