USDA Foods Schools/agencies that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) can receive USDA Foods Each school/agency receives a certain amount of entitlement to spend on USDA Foods
Entitlement USDA sets a per meal rate in July of each year. For SY18 the meal rate is 33.5 cents per meal. Entitlement is figured by multiplying the per meal rate by the total of lunches served in the previous school year However, schools are encouraged to spend at least 25% over their entitlement amount
Direct USDA Foods Direct Various Processors Direct USDA Foods come directly from USDA No fees attached Canned fruits and vegetables Frozen poultry, meats, and cheese Brown Rice Whole Grain Pasta UHT 1% Milk

Transportation Cost USDA pays for the transportation cost for Direct USDA Foods to 13 pre-paid destinations throughout Alaska: Anchorage , Wasilla, Soldotna, Fairbanks, Unalakleet, Kotzebue, Bethel, Mt. Village, Dillingham, Kodiak, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan
Ordering USDA Foods Once a year, in January/February submit orders in CNPWeb (on line data base). Our office will provide training to all new staff on the ordering process in January.
Delivery of USDA Foods COUNT each and every USDA Foods received VERIFY amounts received match the Bill of Lading ACCEPT only USDA Foods listed, do not accept substitutions VISUALLY CHECK for signs of damage, do not accept damaged product NOTE & INITIAL shortages on the Bill of Lading CONTACT our office regarding any damaged, short or missing orders so we can file a claim on your behalf
On Line Receiving Once you receive the order you must enter the amount you received in CNPWeb. If order is less than allocated enter the amount you received Beginning in October, on the first Thursday of each month our office verifies orders that are 60 days past the delivery date and enters them in CNPWeb as received on your behalf.
Invoice for Administrative Fees On the first Friday of each month invoices are generated in CNP Web. Print the invoice and along with the payment, mail them to the address on the invoice.
Updates and Information Bulletins READ the bulletin Updates, order cancellations Required to maintain on file for three years plus the current year
Your Responsibilities Check orders at the time of delivery for damage or shortages, note the issues on the Bill of Lading and contact our office immediately If you haven t received an expected delivery, contact our office Receive the order in CNP Web , if not our office will do it for you Generate monthly invoice in CNP Web and submit with payment to our office Keep contact information current in CNP Web Read the monthly Food Distribution Program Bulletin and keep in your files Submit yearly order (called a survey) in a timely manner Contact our office with any questions that may arise throughout the school year

Lets Talk Program Obstacles Cancelations USDA will cancel orders for various reasons Large deliveries - Since Alaska does not have a warehouse, all orders are shipped directly form Seattle to schools throughout Alaska Transportation contractors If your order is received short or damaged please note the issue on the Bill of Lading and contact us immediately, we can t help you if we don t know about the problem
